Roadside Research is a cooperative simulation game where players manage a small roadside gas station while secretly conducting research on humans. The twist of the game is that the workers running the station are actually aliens trying to blend into everyday life. Players must perform normal tasks expected from gas station employees while also collecting data for their hidden mission. The experience combines management mechanics with light strategy elements, creating a balance between maintaining the business and completing covert research objectives.

Running A Roadside Gas Station

At the beginning of Roadside Research, the player starts with a modest gas station located along a remote highway. Cars arrive regularly, bringing travelers who need fuel, snacks, or a quick stop before continuing their journey. Players must keep the station functioning by restocking shelves, refueling vehicles, and handling customer transactions.

These routine activities create the foundation of the gameplay. The station gradually becomes busier as more customers appear throughout the day. Players must maintain organization inside the shop and make sure that visitors receive the items they need. Managing the business effectively helps generate income that can be used for upgrades and improvements.

Balancing Work And Secret Experiments

While operating the station normally, the characters also conduct secret alien research on human behavior. This hidden mission adds a strategic layer to the game. Players must gather information from customers without attracting too much attention.

Common activities during gameplay include:

  •         refueling cars that stop at the station
  •         restocking shelves with food and supplies
  •         operating the cash register for purchases
  •         scanning or studying customers for research data
  •         upgrading the gas station and alien equipment

The challenge is to perform these actions without increasing suspicion. If unusual behavior is noticed, government agents may investigate the station.

Cooperative Gameplay And Expansion

Roadside Research supports cooperative play, allowing up to four players to manage the station together. In multiplayer sessions, each participant can take responsibility for different tasks such as managing the store, refueling vehicles, or handling research equipment. Cooperation helps the station operate more efficiently as customer traffic increases.

As the game progresses, players can upgrade both the station and the alien technology used for research. Expanding the building, adding new equipment, and improving facilities attract more customers and create additional opportunities to collect information.
