Flash and Die is a first-person psychological horror game where the player works as a photographer for a real estate agency. The company wants nighttime photos of properties so its listings can look different online. At first, the assignment seems straightforward: enter each house, check the required photo list, explore every room, and take the requested pictures. However, the player soon discovers that the empty properties are not actually empty, and completing the job becomes a survival situation.

Photographing Empty Houses at Night

Each property has its own checklist of photographs that must be completed before the player can leave. The player moves through bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, and other rooms while searching for the correct angles. The camera is therefore not just a visual element but the main tool used to make progress. Exploration also reveals environmental details connected to the mystery behind the agency and its unusual requirement to photograph houses only after dark.

The main gameplay elements include:

  • First-person exploration
  • A camera used to complete assignments
  • Photo checklists for individual properties
  • Multiple houses to investigate
  • Dark rooms and hidden corners
  • Horror events triggered during exploration
  • Environmental clues
  • Blood and implied violence
  • A mystery connected to the real estate agency

When the Assignment Becomes Dangerous

Flash and Die does not rely on traditional combat or character upgrades. Instead, tension comes from moving deeper into each property while strange events begin happening around the player. The objective remains to finish the required photographs, but staying inside longer also means learning more about whatever is occupying the houses. Players need to explore carefully, notice changes in the environment, and continue working despite the increasing danger.

Completing Every Listing

The game is structured around separate property assignments rather than conventional numbered action levels. Each listing provides another location, another checklist, and additional information about the central mystery. A typical full playthrough lasts roughly 30 to 60 minutes. To play, enter a property, check which rooms need to be photographed, locate suitable viewpoints, take every required picture, and investigate unusual details encountered along the way. The final objective is not only to finish the photography job but also to discover why the agency sends photographers into these properties at night and what is still inside them.
