[Stories to Tell] The Stoneville Incident follows a young man who has recently moved into an isolated house and decides to document the experience through YouTube-style vlogs. His first evening begins with ordinary recording and household activities, but the situation changes after a police officer warns him that the previous owner disappeared. Unexplained noises, movement outside the camera frame, and increasingly dangerous events suggest that the new property is not empty.

Recording the First Night

The game is played from a first-person perspective, with the protagonist’s handheld camera creating a found-footage presentation. VHS noise, scanlines, unstable lighting, and a recording indicator remain visible while the player explores the house. Dark rooms require the camera’s night-vision function, which can be activated to reveal doors, furniture, and figures that are difficult to see normally. The entire story takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to complete.

Tasks Inside the House

The Stoneville Incident does not contain traditional numbered levels, an inventory system, combat, or complex puzzles. It is structured as one short, linear episode in which ordinary actions gradually trigger new horror scenes. During the playthrough, the player must:

  •         Explore the rooms of the new house
  •         Record events through the handheld camera
  •         Complete basic household objectives
  •         Speak with the police officer outside
  •         Use night vision in dark areas
  •         Follow sounds and environmental changes
  •         Run during the game’s chase sequences

Progress depends on interacting with specific objects and completing each objective in the intended order.

When the Recording Becomes Evidence

Movement uses standard first-person controls, while interaction allows the player to examine objects and continue the current task. The camera is the main gameplay tool, but it also limits visibility. Players should listen for sounds in nearby rooms, check dark corners with night vision, and pay attention to figures appearing at the edge of the screen. There are no weapons, so dangerous encounters must be survived by moving and following the available route.

[Stories to Tell] The Stoneville Incident is part of a psychological horror series based on dreams and nightmares experienced by its developer. The episode focuses on environmental storytelling, scripted scares, analog presentation, and short chase sequences rather than exploration across multiple maps. Completing the game requires surviving the protagonist’s first night and recording the events that reveal why the house and its former owner attracted police attention.
