ReStory is a narrative shop-management game set in Tokyo during the mid-2000s. The player takes control of an electronics repair shop and earns money by restoring phones, cameras, music players, handheld systems, consoles, and household devices. Customers arrive with damaged equipment and personal problems, creating a branching story in which dialogue choices can change relationships and lead to different endings.

Running the Repair Shop

Each working day is divided between receiving customers, inspecting devices, completing repairs, purchasing supplies, and managing available time. In-person orders often continue the main story, while online requests provide additional income. Every job has its own deadline, so players must decide which devices to repair first and avoid accepting more work than they can complete.

From Broken Gadget to Finished Order

Devices contain separate screws, covers, boards, batteries, screens, and other components. Parts must be removed in the correct order before they can be cleaned, tested, or replaced.

A typical repair requires players to:

  • inspect the device and identify damaged components;
  • remove screws and external covers;
  • disassemble the internal parts;
  • clean dust and dirt from each component;
  • install suitable replacement parts;
  • rebuild the device in the correct sequence;
  • return the completed order to the customer.

ReStory does not use traditional numbered levels. Progress is measured through passing days, completed orders, new repair licenses, upgraded tools, and changes to the shop. More device types become available as the business develops. Players can improve screwdrivers and cleaning equipment, purchase machines that process several parts at once, and arrange decorative objects around the workspace to increase the shop’s Zen.

Choices Behind the Counter

Customer conversations are as important as the repair process. A device may contain information that creates a moral decision, and the player must choose how to respond. These choices can influence a customer’s future and alter later story events. To play efficiently, keep spare parts organized, check deadlines before starting a job, and use the shop’s web browser to search for required components. Complete easier online orders when additional money is needed, then invest earnings in tools and licenses that reduce repair time. Careful management allows the shop to handle more complex devices while continuing each customer’s storyline.
