Dead Plate is a short horror RPG set in 1960s France. The player follows Rody, a waiter who accepts a temporary job at a restaurant owned by chef Vincent Charbonneau. Rody wants to earn enough money during one week to reconnect with his ex-girlfriend, Manon. At first, the job looks ordinary, but strange dreams, unusual conversations, and disturbing discoveries gradually reveal that something is wrong inside the restaurant. The game combines restaurant management, dialogue scenes, exploration, and psychological horror.
Seven Days of Restaurant Work
The main structure is divided into seven working days. During each shift, Rody has to seat customers, take their orders, bring food from the kitchen, clear tables, throw away trash, and collect payment. Every day has a money target that must be reached before the shift can end. Later days become busier, so the player has to work faster and remember several orders at once.
The Restaurant Hides More Than Food
Outside the normal serving sections, Rody can talk to Vincent and explore parts of the restaurant. Some scenes happen after work and reveal more about the characters and the situation around Manon. The game also includes disturbing dream sequences that become more important as the week continues. Certain optional actions and dialogue choices can change which route becomes available later.
Players can:
- take and deliver customer orders;
- clear tables and manage restaurant tasks;
- earn enough money to finish each day;
- talk to Vincent during story scenes;
- explore parts of the restaurant;
- trigger optional interactions;
- unlock different endings.
Four Possible Endings
Dead Plate has four endings, and they are not all reached by simply finishing the seven days. Some require specific choices, conversations, and exploration during earlier shifts. This makes replaying useful because a normal playthrough can miss several important scenes. There are no traditional combat levels, character classes, or equipment upgrades. Progress comes from completing restaurant work and making the correct story decisions.
A typical session alternates between fast management sections and slower narrative scenes. The player serves customers, meets the daily earnings goal, then follows new conversations or investigates unusual events. As the week progresses, the restaurant job becomes more closely connected to Rody’s relationship with Manon and Vincent’s behavior. The main gameplay loop is therefore based on multitasking, dialogue choices, exploration, and uncovering what is really happening behind the restaurant’s normal routine.
