Deltarune Chapter 3 continues the story after Kris creates a Dark Fountain inside the Dreemurr home. Kris, Susie, Toriel, and Ralsei become involved in a new Dark World built around television, entertainment, and game-show imagery. The chapter introduces new characters, environments, and conflicts while continuing the larger mystery surrounding the Dark Fountains and the Roaring. Like earlier chapters, the story mixes exploration, dialogue, battles, optional encounters, and choices that can affect how some scenes play out.
The Dark World Becomes a TV Show
A large part of Chapter 3 is structured around a television-themed Dark World. The party moves through areas designed like programs, sets, and entertainment segments rather than a normal town or dungeon. Tenna acts as one of the central figures connected to this world, while other characters appear as hosts, performers, enemies, or participants in the different sections. Progress often feels like moving through a sequence of shows, challenges, and staged events rather than simply walking from one room to another.
The main gameplay includes:
- exploring the new television-themed Dark World;
- talking to new and returning characters;
- solving environmental puzzles;
- fighting enemies in turn-based battles;
- using ACT commands to spare opponents;
- dodging bullet patterns during enemy turns;
- taking part in minigames and show-like challenges;
- finding optional rooms, items, and secret content.
Battles Keep the Same Core System
Combat still uses the familiar Deltarune structure. Kris, Susie, and Ralsei can attack, defend, use items, cast spells, or choose ACT options. During enemy turns, the player controls the SOUL inside a battle box and avoids projectiles. Different enemies require different ACT commands before they can be spared, while TP earned during battle is used for spells and special abilities. Chapter 3 adds new enemy patterns and encounters built around the television theme.
Progress Feels More Like Episodes Than Levels
Chapter 3 does not use traditional numbered levels. Instead, it progresses through connected areas, battles, minigames, story scenes, and major encounters. The television format makes some sections feel like separate programs or episodes, each with its own rules and visual style. Optional paths and hidden content give the player reasons to explore beyond the direct route.
The chapter continues the larger Deltarune story rather than functioning as a completely separate game. Its main focus is the new Dark World, the relationships between Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and Toriel, and the events surrounding the latest Dark Fountain. Progress comes from completing the different television-themed sections, solving puzzles, surviving battles, and reaching the major story confrontations at the end of the chapter.
