Doom on Browser drops the player into a military base overrun by demons, where survival depends on constant movement, weapon choice, and knowing when to push deeper into hostile territory. The player controls a lone marine fighting through corridors, laboratories, storage rooms, and hellish environments while searching for exits and keycards. The story stays simple and mostly serves as a reason to keep moving forward: experiments involving teleportation have opened a gateway to Hell, and the base has been taken over by monsters.

Clear Each Level and Find the Exit

Levels are built as maze-like combat areas rather than straight paths. Doors, lifts, switches, hidden rooms, and colored keycards often block progress, so players need to explore carefully instead of running directly toward the end. Some sections loop back into earlier areas after a switch is activated, while secret passages may contain ammunition, health, armor, or powerful weapons.

Typical objectives include:

  • finding blue, red, or yellow keycards;
  • activating switches that open new sections;
  • searching for secret rooms;
  • collecting ammunition and health;
  • defeating monsters blocking narrow passages;
  • locating the exit switch to finish the level.

The automap helps reveal explored corridors, but it does not replace careful observation. Walls that look slightly different, unusual corners, or suspicious empty areas can hide valuable secrets.

Use the Right Weapon for Each Fight

Combat is fast and built around movement. Enemies fire projectiles, rush the player, or attack from groups, so standing still quickly becomes dangerous. The arsenal begins with basic weapons but expands to include the shotgun, chaingun, rocket launcher, plasma rifle, chainsaw, and BFG 9000.

Each weapon has a different role. The shotgun works well in close and medium-range encounters, while the chaingun can interrupt weaker enemies with continuous fire. Rockets deal heavy damage but are dangerous in tight spaces because explosions can also hurt the player. Plasma weapons are useful when fighting stronger demons or large groups.

Resources matter throughout the game. Ammunition is divided by weapon type, and using a powerful gun for every small enemy can leave the player unprepared for the next major encounter.

Learn the Demons and Their Attacks

Doom includes several enemy types with distinct behavior. Imps throw fireballs, Pinky Demons charge at close range, Lost Souls fly directly toward the player, and Cacodemons attack from the air. Stronger opponents such as Barons of Hell require more ammunition and better positioning.

Later levels combine multiple enemy types in the same room, creating situations where movement becomes more important than raw firepower. Players can dodge projectiles, circle around enemies, use doorways as temporary protection, and sometimes let different monsters damage one another.
