VanySlash follows Vany, an energetic close-combat wizard with enormous magical power but little talent for ordinary long-range spells. Her solution is Magnus III, a talking magical-metal partner who normally takes the form of a large axe. Together they accept quests, travel through different areas, fight groups of enemies, and search for magical devices that expand their abilities. Vany and Magnus also talk frequently during missions and while resting at the bar, giving the adventure a strong focus on their partnership as well as combat.

Fight at Close Range

Combat is built around aggressive melee attacks rather than standing back and casting spells. Vany swings Magnus directly at enemies, uses special actions to stun or interrupt them, and can perform heavier attacks once an opening appears. One of her unusual forms of “great magic” is simply throwing Magnus with enormous force, while her finishing technique, Complete Demise, sends an enemy flying with a powerful kick.

Take Quests and Improve Vany

The bar serves as the main base between adventures. Here, players adjust equipment, speak with characters, and select quests that continue the story. Free Quests can also be repeated for additional EXP and money, making them useful when testing new equipment or strengthening Vany before the next main objective.

Progression includes:

• completing story and Free Quests;
• earning EXP and money;
• collecting magical devices;
• strengthening Vany and Magnus;
• unlocking costumes and accessories;
• using seven customization slots;
• experimenting with new actions and equipment.

Magical devices are particularly important because they can add or improve actions instead of functioning only as numerical upgrades. Magnus can also change form, including a compact rod configuration and transformations that interact with objects in the environment. One of his preferred forms is the Magnus Tank, which turns him into a mobile weapon platform.

Prepare for the Next Battle

VanySlash structures progress around moving between preparation at the bar and action-focused quests. Story missions open new situations and rewards, while Free Quests provide opportunities to gain levels and experiment with different setups. Costumes and accessories are not limited to changing Vany’s appearance, as collecting equipment is tied to strengthening her overall build. The main loop remains consistent: accept a quest, fight through the area, collect rewards and magical devices, return to the bar, adjust the current setup, and head out again with more combat options available.
