Cosmic Forge begins with basic resource production and gradually expands into the management of an entire space economy. The player gathers materials, turns them into more advanced compounds, generates power, researches technology, and unlocks increasingly automated systems. Progress eventually leaves the starting world behind as new space-based mechanics appear, including mining operations, star exploration, and a larger objective connected to the disturbance known as the Cosmic Rip.
Building the Production Chain
Resources form the foundation of nearly every system. Raw materials can be stored, sold for cash, or redirected into compounds required for more advanced construction. Power production also needs to be maintained, since fuel consumption can affect how efficiently the entire network operates. Later upgrades allow much of this work to happen automatically.
The player can:
- generate and store different resources;
- sell part of production for cash;
- create advanced compounds;
- build and manage power facilities;
- research new technologies;
- automate resource purchasing and production;
- launch space-mining operations;
- use a telescope to search space;
- explore stars through the galactic map.
Research, Space, and Automation
Research steadily opens systems that reduce repetitive work and push production into larger scales. Autobuyers can handle recurring purchases, while automation settings control how resources are divided between storage, sales, and compound creation. The space telescope provides another progression path by carrying out searches, and the star map eventually becomes important for travelling beyond the home system.
Rebirth and the Cosmic Rip
Cosmic Forge also uses rebirth-style progression. Starting another run resets parts of the current economy but allows permanent Ascendency perks and other benefits to make future development much faster. As these bonuses accumulate, early stages that previously required constant attention can be passed increasingly quickly.
Late-game progression expands beyond simply producing larger numbers. The player eventually works toward reclaiming Miaplacidus and discovers the Cosmic Rip, the space-time disturbance responsible for the larger conflict. Closing it requires a separate sequence of objectives involving locating, stabilizing, securing, and finally sealing the anomaly. Cosmic Forge therefore develops from a small resource clicker into a long incremental journey built around automation, research, exploration, repeated rebirths, and a defined end-game objective.
