Deltarune Multiplayer is an unofficial multiplayer modification for Deltarune that allows up to three players to participate in battles and minigames together. The main story remains the same as in the original game, following Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and other characters through the Dark Worlds. Multiplayer does not replace the single-player structure completely. One player still controls movement through the overworld and handles dialogue, while the additional players become active when combat or certain minigames begin.
Three Players Share the Party
During battles, each participant controls one member of the current party. On the party turn, players choose actions for their own characters, including attacks, ACT commands, spells, defense, and other options available in that encounter. When an enemy attacks, each player receives a separate colored SOUL and must dodge projectiles independently inside the battle area. This changes the original combat because several players must survive the same attack patterns at once.
The multiplayer system includes:
- support for up to three players;
- separate control of party members during combat;
- individual SOULs during enemy attacks;
- shared participation in selected minigames;
- the original Deltarune story and chapter progression;
- local multiplayer on the same computer;
- remote play through compatible screen-sharing tools.
The Original Chapters Remain Intact
Deltarune Multiplayer does not add a separate set of multiplayer levels. Instead, the mod works with the existing chapters of Deltarune, including the currently available five chapters. Exploration, dialogue, puzzles, story scenes, bosses, and optional encounters remain part of the normal campaign. One player handles the party while walking through areas, then the others can join when the game reaches content supported by the multiplayer system.
Cooperation Changes Combat
Adding more players changes how battles are handled without replacing Deltarune’s turn-based mechanics. Each person has to coordinate actions during the party phase, while enemy attacks require everyone to dodge correctly. Multiple SOULs also create more possible targets, so a difficult attack can become harder to manage. At the same time, successful dodging by several players can generate TP quickly, giving the group more opportunities to use spells and special actions.
The mod is primarily designed for local multiplayer, with several people sharing one device. Remote sessions can also be created through tools that transmit the host’s screen and player inputs, although connection delay can make precise dodging more difficult. Deltarune Multiplayer therefore keeps the original story, locations, puzzles, and progression while turning battles and selected minigames into cooperative sections for several players.
