Dividing Cards into Piles

Each participant begins with one visible card. During a round, one player becomes the Fight Boss and draws two more cards than the number of participants. These cards are arranged into several face-up piles of any size, although every pile must contain at least one card. The Fight Boss may organize them to create safe choices, desirable color combinations, or piles that several opponents are likely to contest.

Pointing Before the Duel

After discussion, everyone raises a finger and points to a chosen pile simultaneously following a countdown. A player who selects a pile alone collects every card in it. Unselected piles are discarded. If multiple piles are contested, the Fight Boss decides which conflict becomes the round’s only sword fight. When three or more people choose the selected pile, the Fight Boss also selects the two participants who will duel.

A sword fight follows these rules:

  • Both fighters obey every instruction printed on the contested cards.
  • Purple rules remain active for the complete duel.
  • Green effects apply at the beginning of the fight.
  • Yellow effects activate whenever a sword touches something.
  • Black cards provide an advantage to the shorter participant.
  • A valid torso hit immediately ends the duel.
  • Breaking any active card rule also causes an immediate loss.

Three Matching Sets End the Game

Let’s Hit Each Other with Fake Swords has no numbered levels, maps, or unlockable abilities. Its progression is based on collecting visible cards in four colors. Three cards of the same color create one completed set, regardless of their individual names. Additional cards of that color may begin another set. The winner of a duel takes the entire contested pile, while the loser receives nothing. The Fight Boss role then moves to the next player.

The first participant to complete three sets wins. If several players reach the target simultaneously, a tiebreaker duel determines the result. Two cards from the tied players’ combined collections provide the special rules for that fight. During normal combat, players begin far enough apart for only the sword tips to touch and start after the Fight Boss’s countdown. The torso is the target area, while intentional blocking with an arm results in a loss. Effective play requires considering both the colors needed for sets and the instructions that would control a possible duel before selecting a pile.
