I Know a Guy: Shady Life Simulator is a first-person management game set in Hobarey Town. The protagonist owes a large debt to a mysterious mafia and is forced to work for them. To maintain a normal public identity, the player runs a pizza restaurant while secretly completing illegal jobs for local contacts. The main objective is to earn money, build connections, and decide whether to repay the debt or eventually gain enough influence to fight back against the organization.

Run Two Businesses at the Same Time

The pizza shop acts as the legal side of the operation. Players prepare food, serve customers, upgrade the kitchen, and improve the restaurant’s reputation. At the same time, hidden workstations in the back are used for criminal jobs. Keeping both sides functioning is important because suspicious activity increases police attention and can put the entire operation at risk.

Shady Jobs Become More Complicated

NPCs around Hobarey Town provide different favors and missions. Tasks can involve cleaning evidence, smuggling items, obtaining restricted goods, or disposing of objects connected to crimes. Completing these jobs increases the player’s underground reputation and unlocks more difficult assignments with larger rewards and higher risks. Characters also have individual stories and problems that continue across multiple encounters.

Players can:

  • manage and upgrade a pizza shop;
  • prepare and sell food to customers;
  • accept illegal jobs from NPCs;
  • build separate legal and criminal reputations;
  • upgrade hidden equipment and workstations;
  • explore Hobarey Town;
  • complete missions for recurring characters.

Reputation Opens New Opportunities

There are no traditional numbered levels. Progress is instead tied to money, reputation, equipment, and access to new jobs. The legal business and underground operation develop separately, so improving one side does not automatically advance the other. Later missions can involve more complicated objectives and increased police attention, requiring the player to balance profit against risk.

A typical session involves operating the restaurant, earning legitimate income, meeting townspeople, and accepting additional jobs behind the scenes. Money can then be invested into better kitchen equipment or hidden facilities that make future tasks easier. I Know a Guy: Shady Life Simulator focuses on management, open-world exploration, reputation building, NPC missions, and maintaining a convincing normal business while working for the criminal underworld.
