A machine-clearing assignment brings P to an abandoned megastructure in Motorslice. Armed with a chainsaw, she must destroy autonomous construction equipment while travelling with a malfunctioning orb drone called Orbie. The story follows their journey deeper into the structure after P discovers that the mission is not ordinary. Dialogue at rest areas provides most of the information about the characters and situation.
Crossing the Megastructure
The campaign contains a prologue, eight main chapters, and a conclusion. Locations include ruined city blocks, canals, waterfalls, broken overpasses, industrial rigs, quarries, and desert areas. P moves through them by running, climbing, sliding, vaulting, grabbing ledges, swinging from poles, and wall-running. She can also drive her chainsaw into golden electrified surfaces and ride across them, a technique called motorslicing.
Fighting Machines with a Chainsaw
Regular enemies include small excavators, flying machines, and heavier construction units. Combat uses short encounters in which P and her opponents can be defeated quickly. She can perform normal attacks, charge a stronger strike, lock onto targets, dodge, and parry moves marked by an orange glow. Certain projectiles can be returned to the machine that fired them.
The main activities include:
- navigating parkour routes through damaged structures;
- solving puzzles with valves, movable blocks, and machinery;
- fighting autonomous construction equipment;
- climbing bosses to reach their weak points;
- finding orb drones away from the main route;
- speaking with Orbie at Slack Off areas.
Every chapter ends with a large machine encounter. Bosses include a dump truck, helicopter, large mech, crane train, double excavator, combine, bucket-wheel excavator, and flying train. These fights combine combat with platforming instead of relying only on direct attacks. P may need to parry a moving component, climb inside a vehicle, travel along its body, or destroy several weak points.
Completing the Assignment
To progress, players can follow indicators such as golden walls, orange beams, poles, cracks, and climbable edges. Maintaining momentum is important during wall runs, while some machinery requires observation before attempting a route. Scanning reveals enemies, lost orb drones, and extraction triangles. Recovered drones must be guided to these points before P dies. Checkpoints limit lost progress, while chapter selection allows completed areas to be revisited for missing collectibles and hidden routes.
