Project Threshold places the player inside an experiment designed to expose participants to their deepest fears. The protagonist enters without knowing who controls the facility or whether completing the test will lead to freedom. Instead of explaining everything through dialogue, the game reveals its premise through rooms, environmental details, and memories connected to the participant. It is a first-person psychological horror game and a memory-based walking simulator focused on exploration rather than combat.

Choosing the Next Threshold

Progress is built around sets of blue and red doors. At each threshold, the player must choose which door to open and then face the situation hidden behind it. The rooms are connected to different fears, but the consequences of a decision are not clear in advance. Some areas require careful observation, while others place the participant in threatening situations that must be survived before another set of doors appears.

What the Experiment Requires

Project Threshold does not use traditional levels with numbered stages or large open maps. Its campaign is divided into consecutive fear-based scenarios, with each completed room bringing the player closer to the end of the experiment. During the journey, the player must:

  •         Explore unfamiliar rooms and corridors
  •         Choose between blue and red doors
  •         Examine objects connected to past memories
  •         Notice environmental changes and visual clues
  •         Survive the horror waiting beyond each threshold
  •         Continue forward without knowing which exit is safe

The game offers limited interaction compared with action-focused horror titles. There are no firearms, character upgrades, or direct combat systems described in the official information. Movement, attention, and decision-making form the main gameplay loop.

Reaching the End of the Test

Players should inspect each space before passing through another door because small details may provide context for the participant’s memories or suggest what the experiment is testing. The first-person view keeps attention on nearby sounds and changes in the environment. Since each threshold may introduce a different fear, the player must adapt instead of relying on one repeated tactic.

The central objective is to pass through every required set of doors and discover whether escape is possible. Project Threshold is a short single-player horror experience rather than a long campaign with side quests or character development systems. Its story remains deliberately uncertain, asking whether the participant is confronting genuine memories, controlled simulations, or something beyond the experiment itself.
