A mysterious group has taken control of the city and turned many civilians into zombies through experiments. In Anger of Stick 5, the stickman hero fights through streets packed with infected enemies while trying to rescue survivors and eliminate the force behind the outbreak. The game mixes side-scrolling beat ’em up combat with RPG-style progression, allowing the hero to grow stronger between missions instead of starting every stage with the same abilities.
Fight Through Zombie-Infested Stages
Combat combines punches, kicks, ranged weapons, and heavier equipment. Players move through linear stages, defeat groups of enemies, break objects, and face stronger mutants as the difficulty rises. Firearms, flamethrowers, and melee weapons can all be collected and upgraded, while helicopters, machine guns, and powerful robots provide additional firepower during tougher encounters. Experience earned in battle increases character strength and helps prepare the team for later stages.
Recruit Allies and Upgrade Weapons
The hero does not have to fight alone. Six different allies can be recruited, and up to three companions can join a battle at the same time. Choosing useful support becomes more important when enemies arrive in large groups or when mutated opponents require more sustained damage.
Progression includes:
- leveling characters through EXP;
- recruiting six different allies;
- taking up to three companions into battle;
- collecting and upgrading firearms and melee weapons;
- evolving weapons into stronger versions;
- purchasing combat robots;
- transforming into Hulk form for powerful attacks.
Several modes change the basic objective. Single Mode follows the main mission progression, while Zombie Mode focuses on surviving repeated waves of infected enemies. Jump Mode sends the character upward through a vertical challenge while fighting and avoiding hazards, and Defense Mode requires protecting a tower from incoming zombies. These modes use the same underlying combat and upgrade systems but place different demands on movement, team composition, and weapon choice.
Build a Stronger Team
Anger of Stick 5 becomes increasingly dependent on preparation as enemies gain more health and stronger attacks. Upgrading weapons helps clear crowds faster, while allies provide extra damage when the hero is surrounded. Robots and special transformations can be saved for situations where ordinary attacks are not enough. The main gameplay loop remains consistent throughout: enter a stage, defeat enemies, collect rewards and EXP, strengthen the hero and companions, and return with a better setup for the next battle.
