Blight: Survival takes place in the no man’s land between two kingdoms locked in an ongoing war. The large number of dead has allowed the Blight, a deadly infection, to spread through the battlefield and transform humans into monsters. Players take the role of the Writhens, a group sent into the infected territory to find and destroy the source of the Blight. The game is built around PvE missions and can be approached alone or cooperatively with a group of up to four characters.

Preparing for a Mission

Each run begins in a stronghold that works as the central hub. Before entering the infected lands, players choose equipment and prepare for the mission ahead. Weapons, armor, and talents can be combined to create different combat setups. Blight: Survival is not structured as one continuous open world; the stronghold connects to separate mission areas where players explore, fight enemies, search for useful items, and work toward specific objectives.

Combat and Exploration

Fighting uses a directional combat system designed around positioning, timing, and choosing how attacks are delivered. Players encounter both human opponents and creatures created by the Blight. Different weapons and armor provide options for changing how a character handles combat, while the environments contain hidden treasures and areas worth searching before leaving a mission.

The main activities include:

  •         preparing equipment in the stronghold;
  •         entering mission-based infected areas;
  •         fighting human enemies and Blight creatures;
  •         using directional melee combat;
  •         collecting weapons, armor, and other valuable items;
  •         searching environments for hidden rewards;
  •         deciding whether to extract or continue deeper into danger.

Risk, Extraction, and Progress

A major part of each mission is deciding how much risk to take. Players can return and secure what they have collected or continue farther into dangerous territory in search of additional rewards. Pushing forward can provide more valuable loot, but losing the run can also mean losing what has not been secured. This extraction-style structure makes retreating at the right moment part of the gameplay rather than simply reaching the end of every map.

There are no traditional numbered levels that must be completed in a fixed order. Progress revolves around preparing in the hub, entering mission maps, surviving encounters, gathering useful equipment, and improving the options available for future expeditions. The long-term objective remains connected to the central conflict: travel through the infected territory, survive both monsters and hostile humans, and eventually reach the source responsible for spreading the Blight.
