Cropdeck is a farming roguelite deckbuilder where the player plants crops, manages fields, protects plants from hazards, and builds a deck around different farming strategies. There is no traditional story campaign with characters and scripted chapters. Instead, progression is based on completing farming levels, earning gems, expanding the card collection, and creating stronger combinations between crops and scarecrows. A recurring objective is paying taxes to Sir Landlord, which adds a resource requirement to each run.
Farming and Field Management
Each level begins with preparing the land. Players clear obstacles, plow tiles, place crops, water plants, and use fertilizer to improve growth. Crop placement matters because different layouts can increase efficiency and help create better combinations. Weather and environmental hazards can damage plants, so part of the challenge is keeping enough crops alive until harvest time.
Cards, Scarecrows, and Upgrades
Deckbuilding determines which plants and bonuses are available during a run. Scarecrows provide passive effects that can interact with specific crops or other bonuses. Main gameplay activities include:
- clearing and preparing fields;
- planting different crop cards;
- watering and fertilizing plants;
- protecting crops from weather hazards;
- combining scarecrow passive effects;
- earning gems from completed levels;
- buying new cards at the market;
- removing unwanted cards from the deck;
- merging duplicate cards at the forge.
Levels and Hazards
Levels take place across different biomes and introduce hazards such as thunderstorms, droughts, tornadoes, and ice. These conditions force players to adjust crop placement and deck choices instead of relying on the same strategy every time. Completing a level provides resources that can be invested into additional cards and upgrades.
The main gameplay loop consists of preparing a field, planting crops from the current deck, protecting them until harvest, earning enough profit to handle taxes, and then using rewards to improve future runs. Players can purchase themed card packs, select individual cards from the market, remove weak options, and merge duplicates into stronger versions. Progress therefore comes from improving both farming decisions and deck composition while adapting to changing hazards and biomes.
