Hapunan [Full Game] is a first-person story-driven horror game inspired by Filipino culture. The player controls Niko, a hardworking balut vendor whose ordinary attempt to obtain a business permit develops into a dangerous investigation. What begins with everyday work soon exposes corruption, violence, and secrets connected to the local Barangay Captain and the people around him. The full game takes around 30–40 minutes and combines exploration, dialogue, suspense, and short action sequences.

A Business Permit Opens a Bigger Problem

Niko’s problems begin when he tries to complete the paperwork needed for his work. Instead of receiving a simple permit, he becomes involved in events surrounding the Barangay Captain, his associates, and a violent history that people in the community would rather keep hidden. The story also focuses on Niko’s family, giving him personal reasons to continue investigating even when the situation becomes dangerous.

Selling Balut After Dark

Gameplay starts with ordinary activities connected to Niko’s work before gradually shifting toward psychological horror. Players move through streets and buildings, talk to characters, inspect the environment, and interact with objects needed to continue the story. Some sections involve following clues or searching for information, while later events introduce supernatural signs and more direct danger.

During the story, players can:

  • explore the barangay and surrounding locations;
  • sell balut and perform everyday tasks;
  • talk to different residents;
  • investigate clues and suspicious events;
  • uncover information about the Barangay Captain;
  • make decisions during important situations;
  • protect Niko’s family as the mystery develops.

What Is Hidden Behind the Barangay

Hapunan does not use traditional numbered levels. Instead, the entire experience follows one continuous story in which new locations and situations become available as Niko learns more. Filipino street life and local culture are part of the setting, while horror elements become increasingly important as the investigation continues. The full version expands the premise beyond its initial everyday tasks and provides a complete conclusion to Niko’s conflict.

A typical playthrough moves from routine work to conversations, investigation, and increasingly dangerous encounters. Players mainly need to explore carefully, interact with the correct objects, listen to what characters say, and continue following the clues. The central goal is to discover the truth behind the Barangay Captain and his associates while keeping Niko and his family safe from the consequences of what he uncovers.
