Poople is a word game built around one fixed goal: turning a four-letter starting word into POOP. The game has no plot, characters, or traditional level system. Instead, it presents a daily word ladder where each new word must remain four letters long and differ from the previous one by only a single letter. The challenge is to find a valid route to the target while using as few moves as possible.

Daily Word Challenge

Every day, Poople gives all players the same starting word. From there, the player creates a sequence of valid English words until POOP is reached. Each submitted word is checked before it is added to the ladder, so entries that are not recognized or that change more than one letter are rejected. The daily puzzle resets at 08:00 UTC, providing a new starting point while keeping the final word unchanged.

Rules and Game Modes

Poople is based on a small set of rules that remain the same in every puzzle:

•         every word must contain exactly four letters;
•         only one letter can change between two consecutive words;
•         all submitted entries must be valid words;
•         the final word is always POOP;
•         fewer moves produce a better result;
•         Unlimited mode provides additional puzzles after the daily challenge.

The game also uses a par system. Each starting word has a shortest known route to POOP, and that number of moves becomes the par for the puzzle. Matching par means the player found an optimal route. Using additional words still completes the challenge, but the final result is shown as being over par.

Solving the Ladder

The main strategy is to think several steps ahead instead of changing letters randomly. Some words may look useful but lead to a section of the dictionary with few available connections. Other words create more options for the next move. Because only one letter can be replaced at a time, the player often needs intermediate words that are not obviously connected to POOP at first.

Poople can be played directly in a web browser. Words can be entered with a physical keyboard or the on-screen controls. The game stores statistics such as completed puzzles and streaks locally on the device. After finishing the daily ladder, players can review their result, compare it with par, and continue with random word ladders in Unlimited mode.
