Controlling the Ship Under Pressure
Your spacecraft can move up, down, forward, and backward within the visible area. However, you cannot control the speed at which the environment scrolls. Enemies appear continuously, forcing you to make decisions while avoiding attacks. Some opponents move along fixed routes, others follow your position, and certain enemies fire projectiles. You must identify their movement patterns and choose where to position your ship while attacking.
Eight Stages of Combat
The original Space Impact contains eight levels set across different planets and underground environments. Each stage introduces enemies with different behaviors and ends with a boss battle. The available weapons help you handle encounters that become more difficult as you advance.
The game includes several important mechanics:
- Moving your spaceship in four directions to avoid danger.
- Shooting enemies with your primary weapon.
- Collecting rockets, bombs, and laser power-ups.
- Using special attacks against difficult opponents.
- Picking up additional lives during the journey.
- Defeating a boss at the end of every stage.
Special weapons are limited, so using them against ordinary enemies may leave you with fewer options during a boss encounter. Saving powerful attacks for situations where they are most useful can make later sections easier to complete.
Learning How Enemies Attack
Bosses are larger opponents with their own attack patterns. You need to identify openings, avoid incoming projectiles, and continue dealing damage until the enemy is defeated. Reaching the next stage means facing another combination of obstacles and hostile units.
Space Impact also records your performance through a scoring system. Destroying opponents, collecting bonuses, and advancing through levels contribute to your result. If you lose all your lives, the current attempt ends, and your score can appear in the high-score records. Repeated attempts help you recognize enemy movements and improve your chances of completing all eight stages.
