TAMASHIKA is a fast-paced first-person corridor shooter built around concentration and continuous movement. The game has no conventional story campaign or cutscenes. Instead, its theme focuses on attention, perception, and keeping the mind fixed on the present moment while moving through a constantly changing combat space. A full successful run is designed to be short, but the difficulty comes from surviving without losing focus or making mistakes.
One Level Changes Every Day
The main game uses a single procedurally generated level whose layout changes daily. This means players do not progress through a long sequence of numbered stages. Each run instead presents a new arrangement of corridors, enemies, and hazards. There are no standard checkpoints, unlock trees, or cutscenes in the basic mode, so failing usually means starting another attempt from the beginning.
Combat Uses a Small Set of Tools
The player carries one semi-automatic pistol and a tantō blade. Movement and combat include walking, strafing, shooting, reloading, melee attacks, parrying, blinking through short-distance teleportation, and using astral projection. The limited equipment means success depends more on positioning, timing, and learning how to combine these actions than on collecting stronger weapons.
Players can:
- shoot enemies with a semi-automatic pistol;
- use a tantō for close combat;
- parry incoming attacks;
- blink to reposition quickly;
- use astral projection;
- navigate procedurally generated corridors;
- attempt additional modes with modified rules.
New Modes Expand the Original Structure
Later updates added modes such as Ascend, Transcend, and Accelerate, along with new level segments, traps, pickups, and enemy types. Ascend Mode differs from the basic structure by including checkpoints, while newer updates have introduced features such as jump pads, shurikens, time-trial sections, and sniper enemies.
A standard run can be completed in roughly ten minutes if the player reaches the end without restarting. TAMASHIKA therefore focuses on repeated short attempts rather than long-term character progression. Its gameplay revolves around fast movement, accurate shooting, defensive timing, teleportation, and adapting to a level layout that does not remain identical from one day to the next.
