Escape Line is a psychological horror and monster-romance visual novel about an amnesiac woman stranded on a fog-covered island. After surviving a shipwreck, the protagonist receives help from two sirens and a robot butler, but their intentions are not immediately clear. The central goal is to understand what happened, recover missing memories, and decide whether escaping the island is possible or even desirable.

Trusting the Island’s Inhabitants

The story develops through conversations with three yandere sirens, each pursuing the protagonist in a different way. Players can cooperate with them, reject their attention, attempt to escape, or select deliberately confusing responses. Relationships are shaped by dialogue choices, and apparently humorous decisions can later influence serious events involving identity, reality, pain, and the difference between humans and non-human beings.

Choices, Secrets, and Codes

Gameplay is based on reading scenes, selecting responses, and investigating information hidden throughout the narrative. Some sections introduce puzzles involving Morse code, layered encryption, symbols, and philosophical references.

Players can:

  • choose how to respond to each siren;
  • accept or resist romantic attention;
  • investigate the island and its mysteries;
  • interact with the robot butler;
  • solve encrypted messages and coded clues;
  • unlock alternative scenes and endings;
  • attempt to escape or remain with a chosen character.

Escape Line does not contain traditional action levels. Progress is divided into story scenes, character routes, decision points, puzzle sections, and nine possible endings. Earlier choices can open or close later options, so reaching another outcome requires replaying the story and responding differently. Some routes focus more heavily on romance, while others reveal horror, science-fiction, or philosophical elements behind the island.

Finding an Escape Route

Advance through dialogue and examine every available choice before confirming a response. Save at major decisions so different branches can be explored without restarting the entire story. Pay attention to repeated phrases, unusual visual changes, background details, and messages that may contain puzzle information. When a code appears, record its symbols or letter sequence and compare it with clues found in previous scenes. Trusting a siren may reveal personal information but can also reduce opportunities to leave. Rejecting every offer does not automatically guarantee safety. Completing the full story requires exploring multiple routes, solving hidden messages, and comparing endings to understand the meaning of the Escape Line.
