WARDOGS Playtest is a large-scale tactical first-person shooter built around battles between three teams. Matches support up to 100 players, with infantry, vehicles, building, destruction, and squad-based objectives all taking place on the same battlefield. There is no traditional story campaign in the playtest. The main focus is on capturing territory, earning points for the team, supporting other players, and adapting to battles that can change depending on the location of objectives and the actions of each squad.
Control Zones and Matches
The main mode is inspired by King of the Hill. Three teams fight over randomized Control Zones that appear within larger maps. The team with the most players inside the active zone earns points, and the first team to reach 100 points wins the match. Because the objective location changes, squads need to move across different parts of the battlefield instead of defending one permanent position.
Infantry, Vehicles, and Destruction
Combat combines grounded gunplay with larger combined-arms systems. Main gameplay activities include:
· fighting as infantry in large-scale battles;
· capturing randomized Control Zones;
· using military vehicles;
· travelling across large 2×2 km objective areas;
· constructing useful battlefield structures;
· destroying parts of the environment;
· earning cash and XP through team contributions;
· cooperating with squads and larger team groups;
· changing tactics when the objective moves.
Teamwork and Progression
Players can contribute without focusing only on kills. The game uses an economy where different useful actions can provide money, encouraging support, objective play, and teamwork. Cash and XP are persistent progression systems, while cosmetics can also be earned through gameplay. Vehicles and infantry operate together, so teams need to react to both ground threats and larger battlefield movements.
The basic gameplay loop consists of joining a large battle, moving toward the current Control Zone, fighting enemy teams, using vehicles or infantry equipment, and helping maintain control long enough to generate points. Building and destruction can change how individual positions are attacked or defended, while randomized objectives prevent matches from following exactly the same route. The main challenge comes from coordinating with teammates while reacting to dozens of other players across a large battlefield.
