Wuwa is a shortened name commonly used for Wuthering Waves, an open-world action RPG developed by Kuro Games. The story follows Rover, an amnesiac traveler who awakens on Solaris-3 after the world has been transformed by a disaster known as the Lament. Joined by playable allies called Resonators, Rover travels through different regions, investigates past events, fights Tacet Discords, and attempts to recover lost memories.
Exploring the World of Solaris-3
The game uses a large interconnected world rather than a fixed sequence of linear levels. Players can visit cities, ruins, forests, research facilities, underground areas, and other regions introduced through story updates. Exploration includes climbing walls, using a grappling hook, gliding across gaps, solving environmental puzzles, opening supply chests, and completing side quests. New locations become available as the main story continues, while some activities require a higher Union Level.
Combat, Resonators, and Echoes
Battles take place in real time and reward dodging, counterattacks, character switching, and correct skill timing. A team can contain three Resonators, each with individual attacks, elements, weapons, Intro Skills, and Outro Skills. Defeated creatures may leave Echoes that can be equipped for additional statistics and special abilities. The main activities include:
- Completing main and side quests
- Fighting Tacet Discords and bosses
- Switching Resonators during combat
- Dodging attacks and performing counters
- Collecting and upgrading weapons
- Equipping Echoes obtained from enemies
- Exploring regions for resources and puzzles
Characters and weapons can also be obtained through the Convene system, while materials collected from exploration, quests, bosses, and special activities are used for development.
Building a Team for Each Challenge
Players control movement with standard directional inputs and use separate commands for normal attacks, Resonance Skills, Resonance Liberation abilities, dodging, jumping, and character switching. Effective combat requires watching enemy animations rather than attacking continuously. A correctly timed dodge can create an opening, while switching characters after filling the Concerto Energy activates linked Intro and Outro effects.
