BitLife+ is a text-based life simulator in which the player controls a virtual person from birth until death. There is no fixed storyline because each life develops according to the decisions made along the way. A character can study, build a career, start a family, become wealthy, commit crimes, gain fame, or experience unexpected events that completely change their situation. The game is structured around short decisions rather than direct character movement or an explorable 3D world.
Building a Life Step by Step
Each press of the Age button moves the character forward by one year and can trigger new events. During childhood, options are limited, but more activities become available as the character gets older. Players can attend school, improve relationships, go to university, search for employment, manage money, date other characters, marry, and have children. Statistics such as health, happiness, appearance, and intelligence can also change depending on actions and random events.
Careers, Relationships, and Decisions
BitLife+ gives the player many ways to develop a character rather than following one required path. Some lives may focus on education and professional success, while others can involve crime, prison, fame, investments, or unusual personal situations. Choices often affect later opportunities, relationships, finances, and reputation.
The main gameplay includes:
- aging the character one year at a time;
- studying and choosing education options;
- applying for jobs and developing a career;
- maintaining friendships and family relationships;
- dating, marrying, and raising children;
- managing money, property, and personal activities;
- making legal or criminal choices.
Random events prevent two lives from developing in exactly the same way. A successful character can suddenly lose a job, face health problems, encounter relationship conflicts, or receive a new opportunity. Players can also deliberately pursue specific goals, such as becoming rich, famous, successful in a particular profession, or involved in crime. Some careers and activities contain their own additional interactions and decisions.
Progress Without Traditional Levels
BitLife+ does not use numbered levels or a conventional campaign. Age acts as the main timeline, while progress is measured through the character’s education, career, money, relationships, achievements, and overall life history. Eventually the character dies, ending that particular run. The player can then begin a completely new life and make different choices, which makes replaying an important part of the game. Each new character provides another opportunity to follow a different career, family path, or set of decisions.
