Dear Passengers is a first-person airline management and action game in which the player becomes part of the crew of a badly managed airline. The main objective is to transport passengers and cargo to their destination while keeping the aircraft functioning during the trip. There is no traditional character-driven story with a fixed protagonist. Instead, each flight creates its own sequence of problems based on the passengers, cargo, weather, and emergencies chosen or encountered during the journey.

Preparing a Risky Flight

Before takeoff, the crew decides which passengers and cargo to accept. More profitable choices can introduce additional risks, so preparation already affects what may happen in the air. During the flight, one crew member can control the plane while others work inside the cabin. They serve passengers, secure objects, protect cargo, and react when something goes wrong. The game can also be played alone, although its systems are designed around managing several responsibilities at once.

Problems Inside and Outside the Cabin

Physics plays an important role because turbulence and sudden aircraft movement can send unsecured objects around the cabin. Weather can make flying harder, while damaged equipment or unusual cargo creates additional problems. The crew constantly decides which emergency needs attention first.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • piloting the aircraft
  • serving passengers
  • managing cargo
  • securing loose objects
  • reacting to turbulence and weather
  • dealing with aircraft damage
  • completing the flight without losing valuable cargo

Flights act as the main gameplay sessions rather than traditional numbered levels. A run begins with choosing what and whom to transport, continues through takeoff and the problems that appear during the journey, and ends when the crew reaches the destination or fails to keep the situation under control. Riskier passengers and cargo can provide better payouts, giving players a reason to accept more difficult flights.

Keeping the Aircraft Together

Dear Passengers is played by dividing attention between flying and everything happening behind the cockpit. A successful trip requires the pilot to control the aircraft while the cabin crew responds to passengers, cargo, loose equipment, and unexpected emergencies. The main challenge is therefore not completing a fixed sequence of story missions, but handling several connected problems before one failure creates another and prevents the aircraft from reaching its destination.
