EMPULSE Beta is a fast-paced 6v6 movement shooter set in the vertical city of Freehold. There is no story campaign in the current game; matches are built around team objectives, gunfights, and constant movement. Players combine weapons with parkour-style abilities to cross maps quickly, attack from unexpected angles, and escape dangerous situations. Wall-running, grappling, Holojumps, jetpacks, and special P.A.I.N.T. Bombs can all be chained together during combat.

Movement Is Part of Every Fight

Wall-running works across many vertical surfaces, while the grapple hook can be used to swing around cover, gain speed, or pull an enemy into melee range. Holojumps and boost pads provide additional height. P.A.I.N.T. Bombs modify surfaces with effects such as Speed, Jump, Heal, Sticky, and Explosive, allowing players to create new routes or change how an area functions during a fight.

Mechs Can Change the Match

Two controllable mechs can appear around the center of a map and become major objectives for both teams. A mech carries a chaingun, rockets, melee attacks, a deployable shield, a dash, and a charge jump that ends with a damaging ground impact. Teams therefore have to decide whether to keep fighting normal objectives or contest the mech before the opponents claim it.

Players can:

  • wall-run across vertical surfaces;
  • swing and attack with the grapple;
  • use Holojumps and jetpacks;
  • modify terrain with P.A.I.N.T. Bombs;
  • fight with several weapon types;
  • capture and pilot powerful mechs;
  • compete in objective and team-based modes.

Maps Are Built Around Vertical Routes

EMPULSE does not use traditional numbered levels. Instead, matches take place on multiplayer maps such as Elevation, Harbor, Plaza, Drainage, and other Freehold locations. Modes include team-based combat and objective formats such as Upload, Control, Intel, TDM, and Mech Bounty, while custom games provide more control over map and mode selection.

A typical match involves moving rapidly between objectives, using walls and grapples to maintain momentum, fighting opponents with guns and melee attacks, and competing for control of the mid-match mechs. EMPULSE Beta focuses on mobility, vertical map traversal, team coordination, weapon combat, and combining movement abilities without stopping between engagements.
