Last Man Sitting is a roguelite action shooter where the player fights waves of hostile office appliances while moving around on an office chair. The main mode focuses on surviving increasingly difficult groups of enemies, gaining experience, and improving the character during each run. There is no traditional story campaign with chapters or exploration-heavy missions. Instead, the setting revolves around an absurd workplace taken over by sentient machines, with The Manager acting as the major enemy behind the attacks.

Survive Waves and Build a Stronger Loadout

Each run begins with a chosen loadout and gradually becomes more difficult as new enemy waves arrive. Opponents range from basic grunts to minibosses and major bosses. Defeating them provides XP, which is used to level up and draft new Power-Ups. There are more than 200 Power-Ups, allowing players to combine effects and create different builds during repeated runs.

The Office Chair Changes Movement

The player remains seated on a chair during combat, which gives movement and aiming a deliberately unusual physics-based feel. Weapons, melee attacks, chair upgrades, and abilities can all be combined while fighting through the workspace. Positioning becomes important because enemies continue approaching from multiple directions and later waves place more pressure on the player.

Players can:

  • survive progressively harder enemy waves;
  • gain XP and level up during runs;
  • choose from more than 200 Power-Ups;
  • unlock and equip Chair Upgrades;
  • fight grunts, minibosses, and bosses;
  • combine firearms and melee attacks;
  • compete in a four-player king-of-the-hill PvP mode.

Swarm and PvP Use Different Rules

Last Man Sitting does not have conventional numbered levels. Its main progression comes from runs, waves, upgrades, quest rewards, and increasingly dangerous enemies. Swarm mode supports cooperative survival against AI opponents, while the separate Last Man Sitting PvP mode places up to four players in a king-of-the-hill-style competition.

A typical run involves choosing equipment, fighting through the first enemy groups, collecting XP, selecting Power-Ups, and adjusting the build as tougher opponents appear. Boss encounters provide larger challenges later in the run. Last Man Sitting focuses on wave survival, fast shooting, physics-based chair movement, build creation, upgrades, and experimenting with combinations that can survive increasingly difficult office battles.
