NBA 2K27 is a basketball simulation game built around NBA and WNBA competition, player development, team management, and several career modes. On the court, players control individual athletes or entire teams, using passing, shooting, dribbling, screens, defensive positioning, steals, blocks, and rebounds. Building a Career in MyCAREER

MyCAREER lets players create a custom MyPLAYER and develop that character through basketball games and progression systems. Attributes, Badges, and build choices determine strengths such as shooting, finishing, playmaking, or defense. NBA 2K27 contains 53 Badges, including 19 new ones, giving players more ways to specialize their builds. The City also supports both male and female MyPLAYER characters, with courts, Crew activities, and competitive games forming part of the wider career experience.

Creating Teams in MyTEAM

MyTEAM focuses on collecting Player Cards and assembling custom basketball lineups. NBA 2K27 introduces Player XP, meaning cards can gain progression by being used in matches. Strong performances increase that progression faster. The Exchange has also been expanded to give unwanted cards additional value, while Limited-Time modes and returning multiplayer formats provide different ways to use a created squad.

Running an NBA Franchise

MyNBA allows players to manage a team over multiple seasons by handling trades, contracts, free agency, roster construction, morale, and league rules. The new GM Trust system affects how players respond to promises and negotiations. MyNBA Legacy adds a player-focused progression mode that can continue across a 100-year franchise, allowing one selected athlete and later generations of that player to develop through XP, training, Badges, and career achievements.

NBA 2K27 does not use conventional numbered levels. Progress depends on the selected mode: winning games and developing a MyPLAYER in MyCAREER, collecting and improving cards in MyTEAM, or managing seasons in MyNBA. During matches, players need to create open shots, time releases, use dribble moves to beat defenders, protect the paint, contest attempts, and control rebounds. Team composition and basketball strategy become increasingly important when facing stronger opponents.
