Throw Throw Burrito: Extreme Outdoor Edition adapts the card-matching system of the original game for a larger playing area. Instead of small foam pieces, it includes two oversized inflatable burritos designed for outdoor throwing battles. The set also contains 120 water-resistant cards, six Burrito Bruise tokens, one Fear Me Badge, and a repair patch. There is no storyline or campaign; the objective is to win rounds by collecting card sets while avoiding negative points.
Card Play Without Individual Turns
All players act simultaneously. Each participant draws from a personal pile located on their right and discards unwanted cards face down onto the pile to their left. Cards continuously move around the group as everyone searches for three identical symbols. Players keep five cards in their hands and place completed sets in separate Score Piles. A standard three-card set provides one point, while a matching set of Battle Cards is worth two points.
Outdoor Battles and Their Participants
Completing three identical Battle Cards immediately stops the card phase. The player announces the battle type, and the required participants attempt to grab an inflatable burrito. The first eligible player to be hit loses and receives a Burrito Bruise worth minus one point. Catching a directly thrown burrito causes the thrower to lose instead. Players may run, duck, hide, and use objects or a burrito as a shield.
The three battle formats are:
- Burrito Brawl involves the players directly to the left and right of the announcer.
- Burrito War includes everyone except the person who completed the set.
- Burrito Duel includes two selected players, who may include the announcer.
- Duel participants stand back-to-back and take three steps before turning.
- Simultaneous battles are replaced by one War involving the full group.
- A tied battle is resolved through a separate Duel.
Scoring Across Two Rounds
Throw Throw Burrito: Extreme Outdoor Edition has no traditional levels, maps, or unlockable stages. Progress is divided into two rounds, and each round ends after all six Burrito Bruise tokens have been assigned. Players count one point per ordinary set, two points per Battle Card set, and subtract one point for every Bruise. The first-round leader receives the Fear Me Badge, with scoring ties settled by a Burrito Duel.
The components are then reset for the second round. If the Fear Me Badge holder also earns the highest score in round two, that player wins the game. If someone else wins, the two round leaders compete in a final Duel. Players should prepare an open area without fragile objects, keep both burritos accessible, and avoid blocking another participant from collecting one. A valid hit must reach an eligible player directly; contact with another person or object first makes the throw a miss. Play resumes after each battle when its announcer counts, “3, 2, 1, Burrito!”
