Instead of following a character-driven story, the game focuses on military decisions, resource management, and competition between armies. You must expand your territory while preventing opponents from capturing your cities.

Units and Combat Mechanics

There are two main types of military units: light and heavy. Light troops are inexpensive, move efficiently across different terrain types, and work well in large groups. Heavy units have more health and deal greater damage, but they move more slowly and perform best on open ground. Choosing the right combination is important because an army consisting entirely of one type can struggle against certain enemy tactics.

How to Play War of Dots

You control your forces by selecting units and directing them toward different areas of the battlefield. Combat happens in real time, so opponents can attack while you are organizing your next move. Cities serve as production and supply centers. Each city can support up to five units, and exceeding this limit creates supply problems.

During matches, you need to:

  •         Capture neutral and enemy-controlled cities.
  •         Recruit light and heavy military units.
  •         Position troops according to terrain conditions.
  •         Defend important locations against enemy attacks.
  •         Monitor supplies and avoid maintaining oversized armies.
  •         Attack enemy positions when their defenses are weakened.

Capturing additional cities increases the number of units your economy can support. However, spreading your forces across too many locations can leave individual cities vulnerable. You must decide when to concentrate troops for an offensive and when to keep units behind for defense. Understanding the relationship between terrain, army composition, and supply is necessary for maintaining control of the map.

Game Modes and Winning Strategies

War of Dots offers different types of matches, including competitive battles, team-based encounters, and custom scenarios. Some modes introduce additional objectives or change the starting conditions. The game also features a World Mode in which players support competing nations by winning battles and capturing territory. There is no traditional sequence of story levels. Instead, each match presents a separate strategic situation. Victory depends on defeating opponents through territorial control and effective troop management. Players can review completed battles using the replay feature to examine their decisions and improve their strategies for future matches.
