Witchspire follows novice witches and wizards who are drawn into a magical world where corruption is spreading beneath the surface. The Witchspire has awakened, ancient creatures are becoming active, and the player must explore the land while uncovering what is happening. The game does not use a linear sequence of traditional levels. Instead, progression happens across an open world where exploration, combat, crafting, creature collecting, and building all contribute to the character’s development.

Exploring and Using Magic

Movement and resource gathering are tied to magical abilities. Players can summon forests when wood is needed, use a spirit jump to reach higher places, blink away from attacks, and send magical pickaxes to collect materials. Resources are used to support exploration, restore power, craft useful items, and improve the sanctuary. The world also contains dangerous areas, falling meteors, corrupted zones, and creatures that can attack during exploration.

Familiars, Combat, and Building

Creatures found in the wilderness can be fought and then collected as spirits. Once befriended, familiars can support the player in combat, help around the sanctuary, or develop in ways that fit a chosen play style. Combat uses magical abilities, movement skills, and support from familiars. Building works differently from normal ground-based construction because astral projection allows the player to move freely while placing structures and creating a home for the coven.

The main activities include:

  •         exploring the open world and discovering new areas;
  •         fighting creatures and corruption;
  •         collecting and developing familiars;
  •         gathering resources with magic;
  •         crafting equipment and useful items;
  •         building and expanding a sanctuary;
  •         unlocking abilities through progression systems;
  •         playing alone or cooperating with other witches.

Character growth comes from several systems working together. Players can level up, follow a branching technology tree, collect outfits, learn abilities, and choose a coven that provides a particular identity and set of options. Different builds can focus more on combat, gathering, familiars, crafting, or supporting other players. Farming and crafting stations also provide additional ways to produce resources and improve the sanctuary between expeditions.

Progress Through the World

Witchspire does not require the player to complete numbered stages in a strict order. Progress comes from exploring farther, improving magical abilities, developing familiars, expanding the sanctuary, and uncovering the mystery surrounding the Witchspire and the spreading corruption. The player can move between gathering, fighting, building, and exploration depending on current needs. New equipment, abilities, crafting options, and upgrades gradually make it possible to deal with stronger creatures and more dangerous areas of the world.
