Enginefall is a crafting extraction shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity survives on enormous moving trains. Players become Freerailers, nomadic survivors who travel the rail network using a smaller Dagger shuttle. The main objective is to raid Titan Trains, collect resources and equipment, build temporary bases, and escape with valuable loot. The playtest focuses on an early version of the connected rail world rather than a traditional story campaign with fixed missions.
Raids Take Place on Colossal Trains
Titan Train raids are one of the main activities. The playtest includes three different train variations, each containing carriages that can be searched, fought over, or used as temporary positions. Players usually enter near the back of a train and push toward more valuable sections. Moving deeper can provide better gear, but it also increases the risk of losing everything before reaching an extraction point.
Crafting and Building Support Every Expedition
Resources collected during raids can be used for crafting and progression. Players can develop their Dagger shuttle, construct small bases, and prepare equipment for later encounters. Combat is not limited to fighting inside Titan Trains: Dagger-versus-Dagger battles are also part of the current playtest. NPCs, improved crafting balance, a tutorial, and laser-based engine breaching were among the systems added or expanded during recent testing.
Players can:
- raid three types of Titan Trains;
- collect weapons, resources, and valuable loot;
- craft equipment and useful items;
- build and improve Dagger bases;
- fight other players during raids;
- take part in Dagger-versus-Dagger combat;
- extract successfully to preserve valuable resources.
Progress Comes From Repeated Runs
Enginefall does not currently use conventional numbered levels. The playtest instead revolves around repeated expeditions through the rail network, with early character and Dagger progression carrying the experience forward. The developers are also working toward a fully connected rail world with additional trains, biomes, factions, character perks, and player-owned trains.
A typical session begins by preparing equipment and traveling toward a Titan Train. Players board it, search carriages, fight enemies or rival survivors, gather materials, and decide how far they are willing to push before escaping. Enginefall Playtest focuses on extraction, crafting, base building, resource management, train raids, and balancing the value of better loot against the danger of losing it.
