Forage Wizard is an incremental crafting and resource-management game about developing magical abilities and building an increasingly productive base. The player explores a forest, collects materials, refines them into magical resources, and uses those resources to unlock new systems. There is no traditional story campaign with long dialogue sequences. Progress is mainly tied to expanding the skill tree, improving production, exploring farther into the forbidden woods, and working toward a powerful artifact.

There is no traditional story campaign with long dialogue sequences. Progress is mainly tied to expanding the skill tree, improving production, exploring farther into the forbidden woods, and working toward a powerful artifact.

Gathering and Crafting

Resources are collected directly from the environment and then transformed into ingredients for upgrades, machines, and buildings. Early progress depends on active gathering, while later systems reduce the need for constant manual input. Different materials are needed for different parts of the base, so players must decide whether to spend resources immediately or save them for larger upgrades.

Skill Tree and Base Building

A branching skill tree changes how the player gathers resources and develops the base. Unlocks can open new forms of production, farming, combat, or automation. Main gameplay activities include:

  •         collecting resources from the forest;
  •         refining materials into magical ingredients;
  •         building machines and production structures;
  •         farming crops;
  •         fighting monsters;
  •         unlocking new skill-tree branches;
  •         creating self-chopping trees;
  •         building elemental distilleries;
  •         automating parts of resource production.

Exploration and Automation

The forbidden woods provide resources and enemies that are not available around the starting area. Exploration therefore becomes necessary when stronger upgrades require rarer materials. Combat is also part of progression, with monsters appearing as another obstacle between the player and valuable resources. As new machines are unlocked, the base can produce more materials automatically instead of relying entirely on manual gathering.

The main gameplay loop consists of gathering materials, crafting useful resources, unlocking skills, expanding the base, and increasing production. Better machines and automated systems gradually make earlier tasks faster, allowing the player to focus on new upgrades and exploration. Farming, monster combat, resource processing, and automation all support the same progression system, with the long-term objective centered on reaching greater alchemical power and uncovering the artifact hidden through the game’s progression.
