HERROR Gas Station Case is a first-person narrative horror game set in Ohio in 1999. The player controls Dan Cooper, a 25-year-old man working the night shift at a remote gas station after losing his previous job at a uranium plant. At first, his tasks involve ordinary station work, but the situation changes after his friend Michael discovers a mysterious briefcase near a lake. People begin disappearing in the surrounding woods, and strange visitors start appearing at the station.
A Briefcase Brings Trouble to the Night Shift
The story gradually connects Michael’s discovery, stolen uranium fuel, disappearances in the area, and unusual activity around the gas station. Dan continues working while trying to understand what is happening. Some visitors behave normally, while others may not be human. Conversations, phone calls, environmental details, and events during the shift provide information about the mystery. The gas station and its surroundings form the main setting, with the story designed as one self-contained horror episode.
Keep the Station Running While Things Get Worse
Normal work remains part of the gameplay even after the supernatural events begin. Players move around in first person, interact with objects, serve customers, refuel cars, answer calls, and complete tasks needed to keep the station operating. Exploration and dialogue are mixed with scripted story events, so progressing through the shift also advances the investigation.
Players can:
- refuel customers’ cars;
- serve people visiting the gas station;
- answer phone calls;
- explore the station and nearby areas;
- investigate clues connected to missing people;
- interact with characters through dialogue;
- use Silent Screamers mode to reduce jumpscare intensity.
The game does not use a traditional system of numbered levels. Instead, the full story unfolds across a continuous night shift lasting roughly 90 to 120 minutes. Everyday tasks are interrupted by increasingly unusual encounters, and investigation becomes more important as Dan learns more about the people who disappeared. Small details in the environment and conversations provide clues, so checking surroundings is useful rather than simply following the next objective marker.
Decide Which Visitors Can Be Trusted
A typical playthrough involves completing gas station duties, talking to customers, responding to calls, and investigating suspicious events as they occur. Players need to pay attention to visitors because appearances cannot always be trusted. HERROR Gas Station Case focuses on exploration, work simulation, dialogue, and story progression rather than combat or character upgrades. The main objective is to survive the shift while uncovering the connection between the briefcase, the uranium fuel, the disappearances, and the threat surrounding the station.
