Brick Rigs is a physics-based sandbox where players construct vehicles, machines, buildings, and other brick-built creations. It has no fixed storyline, central character, or campaign that must be completed in a specific order. Instead, the game provides tools for designing functional models and testing them in open environments. Cars, trucks, helicopters, aircraft, ships, trains, tanks, cranes, and unusual combinations can all be created in the editor.

From Individual Bricks to Working Machines

Construction takes place in the Brick Rigs Editor. Players choose bricks and mechanical components, position them on a building grid, and configure how different parts function. Wheels, engines, actuators, lights, weapons, and control inputs can be combined to produce working mechanisms. After saving a creation, the player can spawn it directly on a map and check its speed, handling, stability, and durability.

Activities Beyond the Editor

Brick Rigs does not use traditional levels with a fixed order. Its maps act as spaces for driving, testing, destruction, battles, and multiplayer scenarios. The main gameplay possibilities include:

  •         Building vehicles and structures from individual parts
  •         Driving cars and operating heavy machinery
  •         Flying helicopters, planes, and custom aircraft
  •         Testing creations with dynamic destruction physics
  •         Organizing races, pursuits, battles, or role-play sessions
  •         Downloading community creations from the Steam Workshop
  •         Uploading original builds for other players to use

The Workshop contains a large collection of player-made vehicles, buildings, machines, and other models, so building everything manually is optional.

Testing, Driving, and Destruction

Controls depend on the selected creation. A standard vehicle normally uses directional inputs for movement, while aircraft, construction equipment, and machines may have additional actions assigned by their creator. Before driving a downloaded model, players should check its description or control information. Damage is simulated through physical connections between bricks, allowing parts to bend, detach, or break during crashes and combat.

Progress in Brick Rigs is based on personal projects rather than unlocking numbered stages. A player may improve one vehicle through repeated testing, build a collection for a multiplayer server, or experiment with large structures and destructive collisions. The main objective is determined by the chosen activity: complete a working design, win a custom battle, explore a map, or test how a creation behaves under different conditions.
