Crew and Landship Management

Before starting an expedition, players prepare the Landship by purchasing equipment, organizing resources, recruiting crew members, and accepting contracts. Each crew member has personal skills, needs, backgrounds, and aspirations. Relationships between characters can change over time, creating friendships, conflicts, and other events that affect life aboard the Landship. Space and resources are limited, so the player must decide how the moving colony should be organized.

Exploration and Combat

Expeditions send the Landship farther into the March, where unpredictable events and threats can appear. Main gameplay activities include:

  •         recruiting and managing crew members;
  •         purchasing supplies before expeditions;
  •         customizing the Landship;
  •         accepting contracts;
  •         exploring unknown regions;
  •         managing food, materials, and other resources;
  •         fighting enemy Landships;
  •         using tactical pause during battles;
  •         dealing with the spreading Bloom corruption.

Tactical Battles and Roguelite Progression

Combat takes place in real time but can be paused to issue orders. Players command crew members during Landship-to-Landship battles and must react to changing situations. Character morale directly affects performance, making crew management relevant even during combat. The Bloom creates additional pressure by attacking the Landship, triggering Perturbations, and limiting how long the expedition can safely continue.

Runs are not completely isolated from one another. Even after an expedition ends, some progress remains in the changing March, allowing later attempts to push farther. The basic gameplay loop consists of preparing the Landship, recruiting and supplying the crew, travelling into unexplored territory, dealing with random events, fighting enemy vessels, and deciding how far to continue before conditions become too dangerous. Each new expedition can develop differently because crew relationships, exploration events, combat situations, and the effects of the Bloom change during play.
